Badge: Domain Hosting

I was excited at the beginning of this week. I knew that at the end of these days I would have my own personal website to do with what I please. I have plans of continuing to work with it, of course, as I’m only just starting to scratch the surface of the potential- but I’m starting to enjoy what I have and I’m excited to see where it comes from.

When I started to look through different websites, I kept having difficulty deciding which one would be best for what I need. I got reviews on multiple, and then it came down to two: Hostgator and iPage. In the end, simply due to price, I went with iPage.

The interface is a bit difficult to navigate if you aren’t sure as to what you’re doing, and I’m still playing around with it to get everything right. But the tutorials are useful and the one thing I looked for is made available. That one thing was a physical phone number. Though I probably wont need to make any calls, having a number there for me was a big issue. I would much rather have a number and not need it than not have one and have to rely on emails. The internet can be down, and I can still contact those at the website.

I then made a basic front page for my personal website, and though the design part itself got frustrating at times I like how it turned out. It’s of course not completely done, but the home page is uploaded and I have every intention of continuing to pretty it up and make the website functional based off of the wireframes I posted about before. Can you see the wireframe influence in this front page?

I like iPage as a service provider at this point. There are enough offers for help and the main thing I had to do was not go so quickly through the site. Being able to read the FAQ and watch the tutorials saved me much frustration and when I didn’t heed those warnings I did end up very frustrated.

I’m going to have fun with playing with this website, and hopefully I’ll have it all pretty soon!
